The Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research (AISSR) and the Department of Sociology and Anthropology of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences (FMG) in the Netherlands are looking for two PhD candidates who will participate in the research project ‘The Globalization of High Culture : How Markets for Contemporary Art Develop in Brazil, Russia, India and China’.
The PhD candidates will participate in a five-year comparative research project. The two PhD projects will focus on the institutional architecture of art markets in the countries mentionned above. PhD project A focuses on China, PhD project B on the Russian and the Indian markets for contemporary art. A significant part of both projects will consist of on-site empirical research, collecting both qualitative and quantitative data.
