The British Association for Chinese Studies (BACS) Annual Conference
University of Leeds
2 – 4 September, 2015
Call for Papers
East Asian Studies in the School of Languages, Cultures and Societies at the University of Leeds is pleased to announce that it will be hosting the Annual Conference of the British Association for Chinese Studies to be held from 2 to 4 September, 2015.
The BACS Annual Conference is the UK’s premier annual gathering of China scholars from a wide range of disciplines. It provides a forum for scholars working both in and beyond the UK to present their latest research and debate their findings with fellow scholars. It is also an excellent opportunity to get to know other scholars working on China in the UK and beyond, and to explore ways of raising the profile of Chinese Studies in the UK.
This year we will be exploring the theme ‘Centre and Margins’, and papers and panels addressing this theme are particularly welcome. However, we equally welcome high-quality proposals for panels and individual papers addressing any theme or issue pertaining to Chinese Studies and the Greater China region, coming from any discipline within the humanities and social sciences. We are particularly keen to attract panels which probe a theme or question in depth from different viewpoints, challenging existing understandings.
This year we are also calling for poster presentations. These are particularly effective for encouraging more personal interaction with those interested in your field, and they can be seen by everyone at the conference as they are on display the whole time. For those unfamiliar with the concept, examples and advice can be found on the internet.
The BACS Annual Conference is open to BACS members and non-members alike, and we welcome participants from all countries.
